As the decision was made last summer to move to 4814 Elsby I started praying through the book of Acts. Jen, Susan and I have similar hearts regarding missional living (Acts 17:26), incarnational living and hospitality…and that is why I started praying through Acts. I can’t even begin to list all the ways the Lord has answered specific prayers. There are three that stand out…and I am so thankful! It’s going to be a sad day when Susan moves to Guatemala. We are all thankful for this short season together. Honestly, the scripture below summarizes my experience best!
42They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
1. Prayer. I prayed that this would be a house of prayer and that we would be women of prayer. My roommate stated it here. But seriously…I don’t know if this house knows what hit it. The spirit is welcomed here and lives here! It’s wonderful to live in this community. I will never live under a roof the same again. Intentional prayer is a must in each house hold!
2. The Word. I prayed that we would be women of the word and that the word would be alive and active. It is so great to live with these two women actively reading and discussing our current readings and what God is teaching us!
3. Salvation. We are praying that salvation would be known in our home or through our home. Please pray with us!
